You really can’t go wrong, but these are a few of our favorites.

About El Poblado (where you’ll probably be staying)

El Poblado is Medellín’s most popular neighborhood for visitors — leafy, hilly, and packed with restaurants, cafés, rooftop bars, and boutique hotels. It’s safe, walkable, and the easiest home base for the weekend. A few areas worth knowing:

Provenza — The heart of it all. Lively and fun; just keep your wits about you at night as you would anywhere busy.

Quiet corners — Tucked between the busy streets are calm cafés and viewpoints if you’d rather slow down. Grab a Colombian coffee and people-watch.

If you only have one evening, spend it strolling Provenza, grabbing dinner, and finishing with a rooftop drink.

Get a feel for the city

Comuna 13 — Once one of Medellín’s most troubled neighborhoods, now one of its most vibrant.
